This blog shares the story of Freya, an adult with cerebral palsy, and Stacey, a researcher, as they navigated their first experience with consumer-led research through the CP-Achieve project. With no prior experience, they built a strong and respectful partnership through open communication, flexibility, and mutual learning. Stacey adapted her methods to support Freya’s needs, while Freya’s lived experience meaningfully shaped the research. Both gained new skills and confidence – Freya became a Lived Experience Tutor, and Stacey developed greater confidence in her research outcomes. Their collaboration became a rewarding and empowering journey for both.
