Scope Victoria was happy to participate in a National Nine News story on Matthew Simpson, a 32 year old Glen Waverley computer whiz who is looking for a job.

Matthew, who has Cerebral Palsy and above-average intelligence, was the recipient of a past Young Australian of the Year Career Achievement Award for setting-up his own internet service provider.

The news story, by reporter Wayne Dyer, flagged Matthew’s concern that his disability rather than his ability was what prospective employers see.

Michael Bink, General Manager, Strategy and Service Development at Scope, spoke of the importance of seeing the person first and not the disability.
