Stretching exercises for children with cerebral palsy. An online resource to help children with cerebral palsy to carry out stretching exercises at home. This resource is a result of a Community Engagement Grant awarded by the University of Wollongong in collaboration with the Physiotherapy Department at the Wollongong Hospital, New South Wales and The Disability Trust.
The resource is designed for use mainly by children with cerebral palsy at GMFCS Level 1 or 2. The purpose of the resource is to produce a visual approach to help children to do their daily stretching exercises and to provide fun and interesting ways that the children can do these exercises in a home setting using common household items or easily available therapy items such as phone book, wedge, footstools, and footy socks.
A total of 36 video clips showing various stretching exercises are available online. The video clips can be downloaded and copied to DVD to be used at home. A limited number of DVDs consisting of the 36 exercises are also available free of charge.
